There
are marriages that cannot be saved.
If
one or both spouses are abusive, uses drugs or alcohol, or are involved in crime,
it is usually best and safest to get a divorce.
There
are many other situations that make divorce the best or only solution. If this
happens, it takes effort to get back on your feet.
Some
important things to remember:
¨
You
are not a failure, your marriage is.
¨
You
are not a victim, you are half way responsible for everything.
Accepting
your part of the responsibility will make it easier to get over it, and get on with
your life.
¨
Don’t
hate, this is a same person you once loved. If you were wrong at the time of
wedding, “you were wrong”.
If
you have children, make sure:
¨
Don’t
use them to get back to your “ex”.
¨
Make
sure they understand that it is not their fault.
¨
Make
sure they have contact with the other parent (except if the other parent is
abusive).
¨
Don’t
say bad things about your ex in front of your children.
